After a record dry winter and a forecast hot summer ahead, Urban Water has launched the drought readiness phase of its Drought Response Plan across South Africa. While water restrictions are still only in place in certain areas with in South Africa, everyone is being encouraged to use water wisely.

Information on your bill can help you become aware of your household or business use and regular readings of your water meter can help you monitor consumption. This can help you discover any concealed leaks, which can be wasting thousands of litres of water, with no visible signs on the surface.

Fix leaks

Leaks can waste thousands of litres of water. Check your toilets, taps, showerheads, irrigation systems and pipes and repair leaks as soon as possible.

Use water efficient appliances and fixtures

Water efficient appliances can significantly reduce your water use and save you money in the long term. Look for products showing the Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards rating sticker or visit the Smart Watermark website for certified water efficient services and products.
